I wish I had more time to read this past month but this year hasn't been blissful for me so far so I didn't have much time to do the things I love. Hopefully February will be more productive and I will discover more interesting books about fashion illustration and fashion design.
I found these two books this month:
#OOTD Fashion Flatlay Coloring Book by Laura Hickman
This is such a cute coloring book featuring different outfits according to occasion, so you can find outfits for summer vacation, cinema, road trip... There are also different fashion styles like boho chic and rockability. Images are very pretty, clear and inspiring. All you need to do is put your imagination loose and create your own beautiful outfits.
The Fashion Designers Directory of Shape and Style
This book is great to have if you are a fashion student or a designer looking for inspiration. It has more than 1200 illustrations that provide base for designing unique, original clothing. First part illustrates basic shapes like sleeves, necklines, pockets, etc. The rest of the book combines illustrations and runway photographs to present new ideas for basic shapes mentioned in the first part. Designs are sketched very clearly, 16 per page in a grid format and they are divided by occasion-casual, formal, special occasion and essential.Below each design you will also find a suggestion for fabric which I find extremely useful. In the final section, you can find ideas on getting inspired by outside sources like sculpture or graphic design. There are also great ideas for using specialty fabrics, like silk, organza and suede. I really like the mix of clear, more technical illustrations and beautiful inspiring color photographs.
And that is all for this month. Hope you maybe get inspired to check any of these two and if you do, please let me know what you think:)
